In this episode I reflect on my conversation from last episode with Matt Henricks. In the episode Matt reflected on what in the past he 'thought' was valued in the workplace and how that changed. Join me in this episode as I delve into this and why being heart or human centred in business is something we all need to sit up and pay attention to.

Are you ready to create work that fulfils, inspires and has a positive impact? Are you ready to follow your purpose, make a difference and follow that special something that aligns who you are to what you do?

This week I reflect on the theme of finding your tribe. Why it's important, how we can do it and why it can so exciting when we do. This theme was inspired from last episode's conversation with Sean Morrow who spoke about how he really started to understand his Good Work after finding his tribe while travelling in his 20s.

My guest on today’s episode is Danielle Malik - founder and mentor at Design Equation. A business that pairs junior user experience designers with nonprofits and early-stage startups through a hands-on mentorship model to fill a gap - affordable design services for organisations and hands on design experience for new designers.

Before starting Design Equation Danielle had prior work lives as a sign language interpreter and industrial designer, before settling into interaction and UX design. Most recently she worked as an instructor at General Assembly which gave her the spark to start her new business.

This week I reflect on an idea that came out of my conversation with Annie Carter of Eve Studio - that to create balance in our lives, sometimes we need to add something in.

I go on to explore the idea that there may be no such thing as work/life balance and perhaps work/life integration is more realistic.

Balance is different for all of us. Only we can know what to add or take a way to create contentment, fulfilment and joy. Adding something in however, will often be more appropriate than taking something away and can actually open up the space for more of what we want.
